A very timely and insightful analysis of the space industry, especially as astro-mining heats up. I fully support further re-enabling the unrivaled economic engine of capitalism to accelerate space exploration and exploitation.

Withdrawal from OST may warrant further discussion on topics such as the potential for it to lead to or escalate conflicts with other nations. It would be very easy to immediately made claims to vast quantities of extraterritorial property, with potentially every nation pushing their own sovereignty, laws, and claims, etc. Lastly… although the idea is a little funny… it may be good to give thought to any plans the private or public markets may wish to have in place in the realistic scenario wherein even a single space mining expedition may net enough of a rare commodity, like diamonds or gold, to immediately flood the market and instantly drop prices to near zero.

Bear in mind there are multiple private preventives and responses to such a scenario—if they’re developed sufficiently and fast enough.
