John McWhorter shows how woke “antiracism” is a “new religion,” but he underappreciates how its zealotry is empowered by centuries-old religious morality.
What a great take on what is going on. I have always treated religious nuts with the disdain they deserve. I knew that many of the philosophical positions taken by people today were irrational, but never equated their ideas unsupported by any evidence as being some variant of the religious philosophy all of us have been steeped in all our lives. This connection perfectly demonstrates the need to treat all of this irrational insanity with the same disdain and indifference properly given to religious fanatics.
I plan to reread and think about this until I can recall and apply all of its salient points easily, but the thing I appreciate immediately is that ARI did not force this topic on an author of color or try to talk a white man out of writing it.

Aristotle’s Crown virtue of Pride means not only thinking of oneself as worthy, but choosing to act in all ways that are necessary to be worthy.
The vice of humility created by Christianity has inverted this virtue (a mortal sin), creating vulnerability to woke self destruction.
