I’m glad Objectivists can look at this from all angles. It seems like non-open borders and removing cartel members is probably a good thing, but both the labor force participation and humanitarian value are important too. However, note that if you include all actions leading to repatriation (not just formal deportation) Trump’s numbers are not yet in excess of other recent Presidents. To the extent that the immigration is desirable it should be (and should’ve always been) strictly through legal channels. Helping to provide domestic security and open markets in Latin American nations could be a profitable solution for the US to both overpopulation in our country and the security related concerns of migrants.
